Kek Lok Si Temple- Kuan Yin Statue

Probably the busiest part of the Kek Lok Si temple is the 36.5 meter high bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the Godness of Mercy. Surrounding the statue is an even bigger octagon shaped pavilion. There were also some other small shrines and pagodas in the area as well as a deck for a view of Penang. It looked to me like many of the local Chinese Malaysians came to Kek Lok Si mainly to visit Kuan Yin shrine.

Address:1000-L, Tingkat Lembah Ria 1, 11500 Ayer Itam, Penang, Malaysia.
Entrance Fee: The entrance fee is free for most of the temple, but the elevator lift costs RM3 and the entrance to the pagoda is RM2.

Batu Ferringhi Beach

Batu Ferringhi situated along the coastal road north-west of Georgetown and lined with a string of international-standard resorts, is the most popular beach in Penang. Soak in the sun or unwind on the beach while you enjoy a host of aquatic thrills from wind-surfing to canoeing. For a spine-tingling adventure, try parasailing to enjoy the view of the beach from the sky. As the sun sets, Batu Ferringhi comes alive with a carnival-like atmosphere with an open-air bazaar selling anything from ornate curios to enticing souvenir items. Watch local artisans demonstrate the intricate art of craft-making and batik-painting. Dubbed the Ferringhi Walk, the bazaar offers shoppers a host of attractions.
